Date: January 1st, 2007
Hello, all, long time to email.
First of all, Happy New Year! I'm sending oodles of joy- and prosperity-vibes your way. :)
Second, I'm currently involved in two theatrical endeavors: "Metamorphoses," a modern-retelling of Ovid's Greek myths (not the Kafka one), will be opening January 19th at the Gainesville Community Playhouse's Vam York Theatre. See http://www.gcplayhouse.org for details and ticket info. Write me back if you're interested in the reduced price/free ticket options on January 17th and 18th. (If you're local to Gainesville and looking for a little extracurricular and cultural fun, one of the assistant directors of "Metamorphoses" is currently looking for extras for one of the scenes. If you're available for 5 performances per week from January 19th - Feb 4 plus a several rehearsals leading up to opening night, stop on by the Playhouse Thursday, January 4th at 7:00 sharp to participate!
I'm also co-directing and performing in The Vagina Monologues, my second year as part of V-Day's Worldwide Campaign to raise awareness of and prevent violence against women and girls. This is a charity event including a concert, raffle of locally donated goods and services, and of course a stirring and edifying performance of one of the most powerful pieces I've ever had the privilege to be involved in: The Vagina Monologues. For more information including event dates and volunteer opportunities for both men and women, visit http://www.myspace.com/vdaygainesville or email this year's Event Organizer, Katie Crozier, at sarend1pty@yahoo.com
Hope you are all having a wonderful time, and I hope to see you at the theatre!
Love,
Samara

The She-News Updates announcement list will keep you up to date on Samara's latest antics, as well as the occasional site updates. Theatre and art events in and around the Gainesville, Florida area, charity events organized by Samara and other random tidbits about her artistic endeavors will help to enrich your life beyond even the wildest imagination of an Infamous Humpback Stoat of Dubious Magical Origin. But only a little bit, because Samara really doesn't send these things out that often. I'm sorry, you'll just have to be satisfied with that.
